15th Annual Florida Swim Camp
APRIL 26-May 2, 2010, FT. LAUDERDALE AQUATIC CENTER
Where?
The Ft. Lauderdale Aquatic Complex, also known at the Hall of Fame pool: 50 meter outdoor pool, lots of lanes.
With Whom?
We are hosted by the Ft. Lauderdale Aquatics Masters Swim Team, coached by our old friend, Head Masters Coach Marty Hendrick. The FLA program head coach is Duffy Dillon.
When?
From Monday, April 26th (be on deck at the Ft Lauderdale Aquatics Complex at 8:15AM) until after the ocean swim and brunch on Saturday, May 1st at 12:00noon. (You must therefore be in Ft. Lauderdale the night of the 25th; you'll be clear to fly out any time after 2:00pm on May 1st.)
Showing up earlier is fine by us. Showing up later is also acceptable, but past experience has taught us that it's not a great idea. Come for the whole week. It'll be good for you.
The Hotel
Arrangements have been made at the fantastic price of $149.00/night (not including hotel and tourist taxes, a little over 11%) but you and your roommates must all check in and check out at the same time/day or you will be charged the extra time, with less than a full room. These hotel arrangements must be made through Conrad to get the discount rate. (No, he's not turning a profit on your reservations.) The hotel is the Marriott Courtyard Ft. Lauderdale Beach, across the street from the pool.
You may stay elsewhere, but we do not provide to/from pool transportation. Parking passes for the week are available for 40.00 each from Conrad; to get a pass, you must provide Conrad with your contact information.
The Common Fee
Your common fee, which is $340 this year, covers all pool rentals, a rental car for emergencies, two meals (Tuesday lunch and Saturday brunch), and other miscellany, including a huge Costco order and Gatorade/ice at all workouts. The common fee is payable to Conrad Johnson and may be mailed to him at 55 Payson Avenue #3F, New York, N.Y. 10034. You may pay in Florida once you have given absolute assurances by April 9th that you will pay in Florida and in cash. (Convertible currencies only, please.) Swim camp this year is a Conrad-and-Bonnie production and is not an official team function. All questions, concerns, and complaints should be directed to Conrad at CJSWIM007@earthlink.net.Clinics
We will provide 60-minute stroke clinics each day, coached by Bonnie Schwartz at an additional cost of 5.00 per clinic. The clinics max out at 6 people each, and payment is directly to Bonnie. Sign-ups for the entire week's clinics happen at the Monday morning workout on May 26th.
